Welcome to the Travelling Backflip. This website is dedicated to showing people some of the amazing places that are around the world and hopefully to inspire a visit to these unique locations. My name is Eric Starling and since April of 2003 I have used the majority of my free time to travel through Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Canada. This site showcases the best things I have experienced in these locations and will continually be updated, as the travelling never stops.

I am a proud Canadian citizen born in Halifax Nova Scotia and currently live in Victoria British Columbia. I am a former national level gymnast who enjoys backpacking, snowboarding, hiking, football (both soccer and NFL), ice hockey, music, reading and planning my next trip. My favourite countries are Turkey, Germany, Greece and Egypt.

The backflip pictures on this website are my way of being unique and different to most travellers. I wanted to do more than just stand in front of an impressive site and smile for the camera. This idea originated in the tax free haven of Monaco and has continued at most sites I visit ever since. The Travelling Backflip as an idea has now grown to be more than just an informative website. A travel show is now one of the main focuses of Travelling Backflip, to supplement the online material. In September of 2007 the first international episode of the Travelling Backflip was filmed in Northern France in High Definition.
